What songs put you in a happy mood?
Have you ever met anyone that didn’t like music? I haven’t. It seems that one of the things we all have in common is our love of music. Sure, the genre may differ, but it’s all still music. Whether we are feeling happy, sad, or mad, there always seems to be a song to fit our mood. David Niven, Ph.D author of “100 Simple Secrets of Happy People,” has this to say about music: “Our favorite music tends to transport our mind to its favorite place. When professors played Mozart to their classes while the students worked on a series of tests, the students did better. Why? Because scientists have found that music stimulates our brain. Music excites our mind whether we are one, forty-one, or a hundred and one.”
“A positive effect on mood was found for 92 percent of individuals when they listened to the music of their choice. Excitement and happiness were typical reactions to the music.” –E. Hakanen
I’ve been doing a lot of dancing lately and I always feel so great afterwards. It’s not always about the song lyrics, sometimes it’s just about the beat. This started me thinking about my happy songs, some of which happen to be dance tunes of the 1980’s. I’ve just picked ten songs to share with you. Readers, I’d like to hear from you. What are some of your happy songs, or favorite dance tunes? Please leave your responses in the comments section.
Here’s my “happy dance” song list:
